Ben Hook appointed batting coach and Chad Parrish appointed bowling coach
The PAOCCC committee are pleased to announce that dual Bradman Medallist Ben Hook and former South Australian Second XI representative Chad Parrish have agreed to play for the Reds in 2008/09. Both will form part of the new coaching structure and take up assistant coaching roles on the back of the A-Grade team's reinstatement to Premier Grade. This move will also allow Club Coach Sam Turner increased flexibility to spend more time with all five teams on match days. Sam's hard work has been a major factor in the club's return to A1 Premier Grade this season and we look forward to his continued input.
Ben's record at district level speaks for itself, having debuted at A-Grade district cricket level at age 17, Ben has represented both the Adelaide DCC and Glenelg DCC with distinction compiling 8,992 A-Grade runs including over 25 centuries. Along with his feats with the bat, Ben took 282 A-Grade wickets. Ben has been named in the SACA Grade Cricket "Team of the Year" on several occasions and is a dual Bradman Medallist. Ben's status in the Adelaide media has skyrocketed in recent years and he is now heavily involved with Channel Seven, Triple M football and co-writes an article in the Sunday Mail We are thrilled at the prospect of having someone with Ben's experience and credentials on board to help accelerate the development of our young playing group and welcome him to our club.
Chad, an old scholar of Prince Alfred College , is "looking forward to playing cricket with a few of my mates that I grew up with". Chad previously represented both East Torrens DCC and Tea Tree Gully DCC at A-Grade District level and has taken nearly 150 wickets at that level. We are similarly pleased to secure Chad and look forward to seeing him pass on some valuable knowledge over the course of the summer as he endeavors to help nurture and work with our abundant list of pace bowlers. Welcome Chad!
Sam Tyler, following a successful year in his first season as A-Grade captain, has been reappointed as A-Grade captain and Chris Watson, a Premiership Player from season 2003/04 returns to the club after a five year absence.
The Club, a founding member of the ATCA and this year in its 76th year, will be fielding 5 senior teams again this season (A1, B1, C1, C3 & LOB). Any players interested in joining a successful club with outstanding training facilities and quality coaches, please call Brad Weidenhofer (0421 521 615).
